I will never forget a time several years ago when I looked out the window and spotted my three boys mowing the lawn. My husband was in the lead and my then young sons were following behind like ducks with their toy lawnmowers.
My boys were imitating their daddy. They wanted to be just like him. In much the same way, we should imitate our Father God. Ephesians 5:1 and 2 (NIV) says Be imitators of God, therefore, as dearly loved children and live a life of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.
Let’s be imitators of our Lord and ask ourselves when we are unsure of the right course of action what would Jesus do if He were me or what would Jesus want me to do. I want to please God and be a sweet fragrance to Him, not a stench, so I will work at imitating Him.
Yes, a long time ago I was into scrap booking. I know this isn’t the ideal photo, but I wanted to share. Oh, and yes, he is wearing a bike helmet–he was a very busy boy and jumped from one activity to the next, I’m guessing he’d been riding his bike when he saw his daddy mowing the lawn. 🙂
