Today, guest blogger Patricia Bradley will share a devotional with us.
“Rest in the Lord and wait patiently for Him…” Psalm 37:7
For many years I claimed verses 4 and 5 in Psalms 37—“Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the Lord, and He will do it.”
I believed God had given me a task to do—write stories that would honor and glorify Him, but after 32 years, I began to wonder if anyone would ever read them except me. One day I my devotion for the day took me to Psalm 37, verses 4, 5 and 7.
It’s not that I had never read verse 7 before, it’s just that I was so fixated on the other two. That morning, as I looked at verse 7, “Rest in the Lord and wait patiently for Him…” I realized the publication of my books was in His hands. All I needed to do was rest in Him, and He would do the rest. And if the books were never published? That was okay, too. I was writing for an audience of One.
That’s when I began to enjoy the journey, to wait and see what God had in store for me…in His timing.
I asked God to teach me patience and He gave me a book to write
